Sri Balaji

Sri Varaha Purana describes the significance of the Indian divine being Sri Venkateshwara Swami, also well-known as Sri Balaji. The second god of Hindu trinity (Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh) is Lord Vishnu. At the request of Narada, Lord Vishnu reincarnated as Sri Balaji.

Every year, millions of people visit to ‘Sri Balaji Temple’ also called as ‘Tirupati Balaji Temple’ ‘at Tirumala.

The temple is situated at Tirumala in the state of Tamil Nadu, located 860 meters above sea level atop a hill named Venkatadri. Visitors can catch the train from Chennai to reach to Tirupati Balaji Temple.

Two companion of Balaji are Shridevi and Bhoodevi. Mother Earth is represented by Bhoodevi and Goddess of beauty is Shridevi. Idol of Sri Balaji is sign of expression of the lord of the world and nature. Idol of Sri Balaji is magnificently and beautifully executed to show the expression of the lord.

Every year on Sharada Navaratri (September-October) Tirupati Balaji Temple has its highest number of visitors during this special occasion. Sri Balaji Jayanti occurs on the 9th day of this Festival.

The act of shaving your head to propitiate God is a long standing ritual associated with Tirupati Balaji Temple. As per the Vaishavite tradition, devotees offer their hair to the Lord which symbolizes effacing of the ego.

Every year, those devotees who visit to Tirupati Balaji Temple also visit to place Kolhapur, situated in the Maharashtra (250 kms away from Pune). There is a temple of Hindu goddess 'Mahalaxmi' who is said wife of ‘Sri Balaji’

It is said that every year on the occasion of Navaratri, Lord Venkateshwara visits to his wife Mahalaxmi.
